This is one of two walks in the Macclesfield Country Park marking the midsummer solstice and has the option of an early evening meal at the Ship Inn, Wincle.
From Clough House car park we take the footpath to Bank Top before a steep ascent of Shutlingsloe. The walk goes along the ridge towards Buxtors Hill and Standings Stones car park before descending to Clough Brook.
We follow the Brook and then ascend to Torgate Farm and on to Cat and Fiddle. Traversing the moor to Danebower Hollow, we then cross the A54 and follow the River Dane downstream for ½ mile.
Then we follow a path up towards Holt, cross the A54 again and follow a bridle path towards Cumberland Brook and back to the start. Upper end of moderate.
Please notify walk leader if going directly to start.
Those wishing to participate in the evening meal should let Phil Guest know one week before the walk.
