What tickets to buy : Off peak day return to Bramley
West from the station to Latchmere Green, then north west through Pamber Forest and east over Pamber Heath to the Calleva Arms, Silchester, for lunch (4.5 miles). Then north east to what was the Roman town, Calleva Atrebatum. Along the walls, (yes walls!) to the ampitheatre for the chariot races (could be worse). Then south and east over a mix of field paths and a quiet road to the station. A couple of gentle slopes.
There is one tree obstructing the path at one point but it is negotiatable.
At the lunch stop there are two benches and a bus shelter, with a bench (though you may have to move a few novels!) opposite the pub for picnicers.
