Overview

This walk explores Cwm Haffes, Sinc Giedd, Mynydd Ddu eventually taking in stunning views along Bannau Sir Gaer and Fan Brycheiniog whilst overlooking Llyn y Fan Fach and Llyny Fan Fawr  in the immediate foreground. If people wish we can visit the De Haviland Vampire crash site. We eventually descend near to our suggested parking area near Tafarn y Garreg PH.

The walk incorporates established path for most of the way, however it does become ill defined in one open upland area. Sections of Mynydd ddu have numerous shake holes, also boggy areas therefore requiring good supportive boots.  None of the route is technical however the steep descent near to the end of the walk can become slippery in damp conditions. Physically the walk requires a reasonable standard of walking fitness being classed strenuious. Dogs are welcome on this walk however as always owners will need to keep them on a lead whenever near livestock.
