This is a moderate walk over forest paths, farm tracks, and unmade rights of way across farmland, which will be uneven and muddy in places, although the route should avoid any especially deep mud. I've made a few changes to my previous walks in this area to avoid very wet sections.
The snowdrops should be in full bloom in the church yards along the route.
Starting from the Affpuddle forest car park, we first walk over to Affpuddle, then make our way to Moreton for lunch. In Moreton, we visit St.Nicholas church, with the option to visit the grave of Lawrence of Arabia in the new cemetary. After lunch we walk via Throop to Turners Puddle. Finally we return to the cars via Briantspuddle and Culpeppers Dish.
All walkers are responsible for their own health and fitness to undertake this walk.
Expect the usual 4050 reasonably brisk pace. Despite our group name, we don't have any age restrictions, but we do tend to walk a bit further, a bit faster, and with less stops than other Dorset groups.
Check the weather forecast beforehand and dress appropriately; layers, waterproofs, and good waterproof walking boots are recommended.
Bring drinks, snacks and a packed lunch to keep you going.
Possible use of toilets at Moreton, otherwise plenty of quiet forest.
No dogs except RAD.
A small number of styles.
Non-members welcome (Ramblers have a limit of three group walks as a non-member).
Please book free tickets using the link below if you wish to join this walk. If you subsequently cannot make it, please cancel your ticket via the system, or by texting ChrisW on 07880 782569.
