Overview

A mixture of track, field and road walking. Please expect mud and hope for sunshine.

6.5 Miles, mainly flat. Dogs on leads welcome.

Park and meet at the layby off Beverley Road (on the right as you enter the village heading towards Hutton Cranswick). It’s easy to pass the first right turn, but there is a second slightly further along. Alternatively, park in the village with consideration for residents.

We’ll gather towards the bus stop at the layby for a 10.00am start.

There are no toilets on this walk, other than bushes!

We’ll head to Watton Grange Farm, down to Low Wood, past Wedding Wood towards Southbelt Plantation before we head to Kilnwick Church were we’ll have a refreshment break, so bring snacks and drinks.

We’ll then head back towards Watton along Kilnwick Beck, by the Mill House and back to the cars. Before finishing though, we’ll continue to a small loop to catch a glimpse of Watton Abbey and visit the Church.

For those who wish to meet up afterwards, there is the White Horse Pub at Hutton Cranswick or the very popular Farm Shop which has a lovely café, both just a 2-minute drive.

For those traveling by bus, the number 41 (towards Bridlington) leaves at 8.25am from Hull Bus Station and arrives at Watton for 9.20am. Heading back to Hull, the 41 bus leaves Watton at 13.21 and 14.01pm (not sure exactly when we might return).
