Overview

Hello Everyone

Something different for you this Sunday as we're off to the Staffordshire Ramblers Annual General Meeting at the new pavilion in West Smethwick Park, Sandwell. If you hear us talk about the "Area" we're actually referring to Staffordshire Ramblers, our intermediate parent organisation who have ourselves and the thirteen other groups in the county under their wing. Each group takes it in turn to organise the Area AGM which is the hands of our good colleagues at Sandwell Ramblers this year. You may recall many of Sandwell's members joined us on our walk at Sandon during the summer.

The AGM is preceded by a short 4 mile walk starting from the venue taking in Galton Valley and it's interesting canal heritage. Although relatively short this is a Moderately graded walk including a steep climb and at least one muddy section en route.

Please refer to your Autumn edition of Step Out, the Area's own magazine where all you need to know about the AGM is detailed on the centre pages. Those pages are also reproduced above along with a pic of the venue and a satellite screenshot of the final approaches and parking.

The walk is open to Ramblers members and starts at 10.00 prompt. As it usually attracts a sizable number registration can take longer than usual so please assist our friends by arriving in good time, bearing in mind that depending on turnout the walk may be split into two separate groups.

This is an excellent opportunity to see how the Area committee functions on our behalf, and also to meet and compare notes with members & volunteers from neighbouring groups.

Registration: 09.30. Walk start: 10.00.  Walk leaders: Members of Sandwell Ramblers.

Contact for our group (Chase & District) is Barry on 07811 141484.

⚠️Our own members should note there's no rendezvous at Hednesford for this event. Please go direct to the start. Thank you.

Facilities are available at the start venue.

Light refreshments are provided in the interval between the walk finish and the start of the AGM proper, and also post meeting before the guest speaker takes to the the stage to round off the day.
