Overview

Area short walk. Unfortunately Dave is no longer able to lead, Jim Watson has stepped in, the walk is revised to a Stalybridge Circular with relevant changes to transport.

Walk details: Kicking off by going up the Ridge Hill trail to Arlees, then North up the Luzley Road apiece to find the footpath on the left crossing the fields towards the two lakes near the Tameside Infirmary. Round the water to enter Stamford Park (Ice creams all round?) then to the road and down it to Currier Lane where we again go left to Bank Top. (Lunch?) Skirt around Whitelands Road to the Mill yard then up the canal to Stalybridge as far as the Wharf Tavern. Cross the road into the Gorse Hall estate, where if the mood takes me I will do a presentation about the famous murder that took place there in 1909. Over the fields to the housing estate, turning off at Dryden, then left on the path and up the hill to drop down onto Early Bank Road, Cheetham Park and bee boe bended my tales ended. Then it will be choice of cafe or boozer of which there is a good choice in the 'bridge.
