There is an option with this walk for everyone to start together but those wishing to do a 6-mile circular walk will just turn left to Pilsgate and head back to Burghley.
Those wishing to do the full walk will just turn right and we head to Barnack and then turn left just before the village.
Starting from the car park we walk through the park heading towards the entrance off The Great North Road, heading towards the Golf Club and entering the park again, past the Golf Club to join the Hereward Way route. Over a stile, through the park (a couple of stiles) before joining the road which takes us to the main B1443. At this point those wishing to do the shorter walk turn right to Pilsgate and join the path that takes you back to Burghley Park. Those continuing with the longer walk will turn right and head towards Barnack before turning left along a track that takes us to the Uffington Road. We walk along the road, over the railway line and cross to join the Torpel Way track. At the end we turn left and join the B1443 and walk along the path back to Burghley car park.
Both walks are along good tracks and grass fields (no ploughed fields) but those doing the longer walk just need to be careful along the Torpel Way as there are quite a number of tree roots exposed along the track (potential trip hazard).
Some road walking along the Uffington Road and we just need to be careful when coming out from Burghley Park as it comes out near a bend before we walk along the road to the B1443.
The cafe at Burghley Park is open should anyone wish to have any refreshments after the walk(s).
