Overview

After parking we take a long scenic surfaced path down to the canal towpath and the Erewash trail. We follow surfaced  tracks to the viaduct where there are flights of steps to get onto the viaduct. There is then a gradual ascent through housing until we arrive at the disused British rail line. This good path eventually leads into the Robin Hood way with a steady incline which after a few twists and turns opens out onto a very straight path by field edges to our starting point
We cannot avoid crossing a few roads on this venture.
Obligatory coffee stop and packed lunch advisable.
