Overview

Tanygrisiau Reservoir lies beneath the Moelwyn mountains, on the edge of the slate-quarrying town of Baenau Ffestiniog. Together with the higher reservoir of Llyn Stwlan, it runs the Ffestiniog Power Station, the UK's first major pumped storage power station, which can generate enough power to supply the entire power needs of North Wales for several hours. Todays walk makes a short circuit of the Tanygrisiau Reservoir and features a piano! A brew and mincepies available after the walk.
