This is the 13th (and penultimate!) leg of our route along the Thames river. You do not need to have walked any of the other stretches – you are welcome to come along just for today! Dogs on leads are welcome.
We'll meet at 10am outside the Town Arms pub near the river - 102 High Street, Wallingford, Oxfordshire, OX10 0BL https://www.thetownarmswallingford.com/
This is a linear walk, finishing at the lovely market town of Abingdon after around 13.5 miles.
This is where the Thames river meanders gently through miles of Oxfordshire countryside, with the occasional historic village and settlement dotted along the route.
Coming out of Wallingford, we negotiate the first diversion which involves a short ferry ride at Benson - £2 per person, cards accepted, more info here https://bensonferry.wordpress.com
Having crossed the river we continue to Days lock where we cross back to the “south side”. At Clifton Hampden there’s a pub should we wish to stop for an afternoon drink (Barley Mow) before continuing all the way into Abingdon.
Please note, aside from the start/finish towns and the pub at Clifton Hampden there are no toilets and no refreshment opportunities so come prepared and bring your own grub and drinks!
End point is Abingdon bridge.
Bus options to Didcot Parkway / Oxford / Reading at either end of the walk.
Estimated finish time 5pm.
