This beautiful walk follows a well marked long distance trail through fields and along woodland tracks. There is quite a lot of ascent over the course of the day but this is spread out and we will walk at a steady pace, having given ourselves plenty of time to complete the walk. We will have fabulous views westward toward the Black Mountains and eastward toward the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean. Although we won't be doing the whole of the three castles Way, we will have time to visit all three castles on our walk. We will start our walk at Skenfrith Castle and walk via Grosmont back to our cars at, arguably, the best castle of all, White Castle.
After parking our cars at White castle we will get in to as few cars as possible and drive 15 minutes back to Skenfrith Castle, the starting point for our walk. Facilities are few and far between. Bring plenty of water, snacks and a packed lunch.
Please allow plenty of time to get to White Castle. You will need to be happy to car share. At the end of the walk, those with cars at Skenfrith will need to be taken back to them from White Castle before we head home.
