Our walk takes us into the neighbouring county of Suffolk - so still fairly flat!!!
A delightful triangular walk of 7 miles, taking in 3 charming Suffolk churches. We start at St Peter's Moulton CB8 8SG. Space for 8 sensibly parked cars, with more street parking on the other side of the stream. (No church service on day of walk).
We follow the River Kennet for several miles before reaching St Mary the Virgin at Dalham, where we catch a glimpse of Dalham Hall, home of the Royal ruler of Dubai. Following field paths and woodland edges, that are likely to be muddy, we reach All Saints at Gazeley. A short stretch on a quiet lane and then downhill back to Moulton where we can do a short extension to see the landmark Packhorse Bridge. The church at Moulton contains an interesting fertility stone, Sheela-Na-Gig, whilst Dalham has a connection to the Affleck family. The walk packs quite a lot into a short space. Bring drinks and snacks as we will take 2 short breaks at the churches. If you would like a post walk meal I can recommend The Packhorse Inn, but you will need to book your own table.
95% of the walk is off-road. If the area has received any rain in days before our walk, expect some areas of thick mud.
Huntingdon to Moulton is 36 miles - anticipated journey time 40 to 50 minutes.
