This is a walk taking a high level northerly route along part of the Calderdale way . It is mainly over open moorland coupled with field paths and some road walking. There are stiles along the way and a couple of narrow slab bridges over streams. Walking boots are essential and a walking pole would be an advantage.
The route takes us via Cross Stone, Great Rock, Blackshaw Head, Hebble Hole and Heptonstall.
There are one or two steepish climbs and a pull up some steps . The walk is approximately 8 miles and allowing for a lunch break it should take a little over 5 hours .
There are no refreshments or toilets available along the route but there are café and pubs in Hebden Bridge at the end of the walk.
There is a train service between Manchester, Todmorden and Hebden Bridge. For those traveling by car there is ample parking in Todmorden and a bus service back from Hebden Bridge .
The main object of our walks is fresh air, exercise and the sheer enjoyment of walking with good company. For more on what to expect please follow the web link below.
