Tolkien Trail from Marles Wood (11 mile)
Meet at 10:00 for a walk along the river to Hurst Green where we will pick up those who wish to do the shorter walk. This is a route that can be muddy and the path uneven as we will be going through the woods along the riverside path,
Hurst Green (7 mile) 10:45
Meet in the car park of the Shireburn Hotel, from here we will take the scenic walk through fields, along tracks by the riverside where the Ribble meets the Caulder. The first part of this walk is a gentle slope to the river. There are a couple of gentle climbs and 227 irregular steps through the woods. Some paths are uneven and it can be muddy at times. Dogs are welcome but there maybe cows or sheep in some of the fields so please keep them on a lead. car parking available at the village hall, £ 2 donation in honesty box.
Lunch will be on the banks of the river.
At the end of the walk we can wind down with coffee and cake at Millies if it is still open.
