Overview

We leave the car park and descend to Charlton, then a gradual ascent through Charlton Forest to the SDW. We continue west along the SDW to Cocking Down, where we turn south through woods down to West Dean. The final part of our walk takes us up from West Dean on the Monarch's Way to the Trundle and 360' views.

We will have lunch about 12.30. In addition to a mid-morning break we have the option to stop at the West Dean shop and cafe for refreshment before the last hill.

To join the walk by public transport use the 60 bus Chichester-Midhurst.  Speak to the leader before the walk for details.
