Overview

Meet at 10am for a 10.15 start from the river car park in Boroughbridge. Heading across one of the historic bridges we first visit the ancient monument called The Devil's Arrows (huge standing stones which date back thousands of years). Then the walk meanders its way though some attractive countryside and villages such as Kirby Hill and Milby before heading directly to Myton on Swale. This is the site of another historic bridge and battle of Myton back in 1319.

After looking around the village and parkland surrounding Myton Hall we will have lunch near the church. Then we continue on the riverside footpath down the final length of the Swale where it meets the Ure. Finally we follow the Ure upstream which brings us back into Boroughbridge at the site of the famous battle of 1322.

Please bring walking boots, waterproofs, a packed lunch and plenty to drink.
