We are the Hike on Lancashire Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
This one is definitely worth the drive! Something a bit different...... a mix of great views and some fascinating industrial heritage.
We will walk along canals (and this one is a bit different to the norm!), see unique viaducts, walk along old railway lines, visit a war memorial with a fantastic view and walk around the beautiful Dovestones reservoir- home of peregrine falcons.
Wool Road car park- Uppermill . The car park has space for 10 cars. Please car share when you can. If the car park is full then driving further North up the A670 will allow roadside car parking. Please allow time to park prior to the walk start time. Alternatively you may choose to park in central Uppermill and walk North to the meet point- 15 mins approx. The car park entrance is not signed. If travelling from the North the entrance is opposite the brown Saddleworth sign just before the viaduct. If travelling from the south or the west then the car park is the first left after the mini roundabout and is a tight turn back down and to the left. You can see the back of the large Saddleworth road sign from this direction.
