We meet at Bere Alston station where there is limited free parking (Advise car share if possible). Our circular walk takes us to an area rich in history of mining and market gardening. We mainly follow one of the Tamar Trails, taking us through wooded and agricultural land. The highlight is the permitted path along the Devon bank of the Tamar. The attractive river port of Calstock visible on the opposite bank. Later, through the trees, we see the impressive Tudor house and quay at Cotehele. Throughout the walk there are sweeping river views and open vistas towards Kit Hill.
Expect mud, no stiles, several gates, some ups and downs and possibility of cattle.
We will stop for coffee and a snack.
