This is a great walk with great views, “if weather on our side!” Looking over Winter Hill, Darwen tower, Ingleborough and the Irish Sea.
Starting at The Baths car park the first mile and a half is a flat path which follows The Goit… reaching White Coppice cricket pitch we start the steady, climb up to the Great hill. This path can rugged, and uneven in parts. Walking poles useful. If wet some of these paths are muddy and slippy. It is Apx hour climb reaching a height of 1000 feet. We will have 20 minute lunch stop at this point before returning back down … we branch off to skirt Brown Hill and Heapy Moore.. then pick up the woodlands of Wheelton Plantation … at the bottom of the woodland you can return to the car reducing your walk by a mile, or continue taking country a lane and field back to the car..
