Walk details

The walk explores Wallingford Castle before heading out along the earthworks of the Anglo Saxon defensive structure called a Burgh. We will then head out of Wallingford onto the low hills heading north up the Thames valley through open fields. We pass the Earth Centre farming centre before heading down to join the Thames Path into Shillingford.

We then head across Shillingford bridge before heading back down the Thames Path to Benson marina and a possible café / bar stop. On leaving Benson, the weir across the Thames is closed so we will follow the diversion back into Wallingford.

For those that want to, there will be an opportunity to visit Bunkfest afterwards which is a free community run music and dance festival with lots of food and drinks stands including a beer tent. More details at https://bunkfest.co.uk

Parking is available at Wallingford but will be very busy Bunkfest weekend and the best option may be to use the Park and Ride service: https://bunkfest.co.uk/ufaq/do-you-have-a-park-and-ride-service/
