Overview

The walk begins in the village of Plush in deepest Dorset, but one of the favourite areas of Thomas Hardy.  It has been considered that Plush formed the basis of Hardy's description of 'Flintcomb Ash' in Tess of the D'Urbervilles.  The walk takes in Plush Hill and then goes around Lyscombe Bottom and onto the Dorset Gap.  The return route is via Folly, around Watcombe Wood and thence to Plush.  The terrain comprises paths, tracks, some field walking with interesting views.
