Overview

Route goes through woodland down Park Farm Lane, under and then over the motorway to Beacon Lane footpath and up to Castle Fields nature reserve. Then up through woodland under the Monument using the steps on a steep path, before retracing our route to Quarts Moor. 4 miles approx.

A few muddy crunch points but all possible even after heavy overnight rain. One stile which one can slip through to the side. Suitable for dogs. Special care needed on top road at junction with Hemyock /Wellington Road.  Beyond the Monument there are root trip hazards and descent in the woodland. Ascent up steep scarp slope under the Monument. Views are to the North across the Vale and beyond.
