This walk takes us south through the outskirts of West Drayton and a local park to Harmondsworth, where there will be the opportunity for a quick look around the Grade 1 listed Harmondsworth Barn (free entry) originally built in 1426. The walk will then cross Harmondsworth Moor / Colne Valley Country Park before heading north and then returning to West Drayton along the canal.
Note: The planned walk is 8 miles, however, if there has been heavy rain in the days leading up to the walk there is a possibility that two points on the walk will be impassable due to flooding. Plan B adds 2 miles to the walk.
Meet at West Drayton Station for a 10:40am start, shortly after the arrival of the train from Reading. If the train is delayed, the walk start will be delayed as the walk leader will be on the train! The station has toilets for those arriving by train (on platform 4 – use before exiting the ticket barriers). If arriving by car, the nearest car park is the Brandville Road car park (find it on Google Maps), which is free on Sundays. (For details of other car parks in the area, see https://www.hillingdon.gov.uk/article/4960/Car-parks-map-and-charges).
We'll be walking past this car park about 5 mins after the start of the walk.
