6 mile walk (9.7 km) Easy/Moderate 600ft ascent
The walk starts at 10am. from Tesco CP (free) on Bridgemont, Whaley Bridge. Please note that this car park is on Buxton Road A5004, half way between Whaley Bridge & the A6 roundabout . There is no signage and Tesco can not be seen from the Buxton Road. There is a turning across the canal. Please use 'what3words' if unsure. Park on opposite side to petrol station.
We follow the canal to Whaley Bridge then across memorial park to a former railway track. This is the start of the moderate section of the walk. We climb gently up the incline & up 3 fields & there are a couple of awkward stiles. We can take this at a gentle pace & will have a coffee stop at the top to admire the views. We pass Cadster farm, where there is a possible muddy/narrow track where a pole could be useful. We cross Chapel Road & walk passed Over Leigh & Throstledale to again admire the views ( & possibly bump into the medium walkers!) then descend to Buxworth and back along the canal to the CP.
