Widdop Round, Via Gorple Upper & Lower res, Bouldsworth Hill & Lad Law Wednesday 4th September 10:20 meet up.
A moderate to strenuous walk around Widdop Moor. Starting from the car park we will follow good quality paths dropping down to Gorple Lower Res before tracking to Gorple Upper. We will then make our way up Ben Edge heading to the Penine Bridleway on Extwistle Moor. This involves as steady climb on narrow paths and then dropping down until we join the Bridleway. We then climb the moor on quality paths to Lad Law. The path down from Lad Law is on unmade ground with heather and bracken underfoot until we reach the small paths used by the gamekeepers in the area. From here the path gets better the further down the hills we go, all the way back to the car park.
Please remember to bring a packed lunch and warm drink for lunch.
Please be advised the Slack Road leading to the car park is a typical country road, narrow in places with drops on the edge in places. Please give yourself enough time to avoid having to drive too fast on these roads. The car park is approx 1 mile past Widdop Res.
