Wigginton- Alphabet walk W

Wigginton Via Cholesbury Camp. We walk from Wiggington through Tring Park with lovely views and arrive in the small hamlet of Hastoe. We then head south through High scrubs woods where we will stop for a snack break for a few minutes. After a time we arrive at the iron age fort of Cholesbury Camp. We walk around some of the camp and pass the lovely old church of St Lawrence. We will have lunch here. We then skirt the top of Cholesbury common and head across farming country. We pass some interesting wire sculptures of sheep and sheep dog. At the end of another section of woods we pass a plaque commemorating the deaths of the crew of a plane that crashed in the field beyond the woods. We soon arrive back in Wigginton where we can either visit the village shop and café or the greyhound PH for refreshments.
The way is mostly flat with a very mild incline, there are 2 stiles. We will need to duck under a fallen tree at one point. Some lane walking on quiet roads. There may some muddy areas after rain. Horses and sheep may be in fields so dogs will need to be on a lead.
Park in the village community store and café or on the road outside if busy.
