Welcome to our historic Winchester walk, via Magdalen Hill Down Nature Reserve. Take a step back through the centuries along some of the City streets. We’ll pass St John’s Church, the oldest in Winchester, then on to the Old Blue Boar Inn, now a private house. Next we walk round Joyce Gardens before passing St Giles graveyard, first used in Anglo Saxon times, prior to entering the nature reserve (including its Bronze Age barrows) which is home to butterflies, moths and plants. The path back to the car park descends through St Giles Hill, site of one of the largest Medieval fairs, and views right across Winchester.
