Overview

We start from Brandsby village hall, there is a suggested £2 donation for parking which will be collected by the walk leader. From there we’ll go past Peel Wood and then through Yearsley. After Yearsley we go along the edge of Rutter’s Plantation to Pond Farm and the head of Oulston reservoir. We will walk over towards Oulston then taking a southerly turn towards Crayke. This leads us over Hardy Bank and in to the flat lands. We get to Mill Green Bridge before turning back northwards taking in the delights of Holly Wood before a final turn back to Brandsby.
A walk of 10.5 miles with nine stiles (one crossed twice) and a touch (or two) of mud. There are two detours around fallen trees, the second is passable with care and poles will be useful to help with this. A walk with silence decorated by birdsong, landscape garlanded in green, bringing warmth to the heart to lift our winter spirits.
