Overview

Hello Everyone

Derbyshire beckons for the first time this year with a sortie around lovely Youlgreave courtesy of Roy. His route takes in terrain that includes a few hills and is best graded as Moderate to Strenuous given the general topography of this area including approximately 25 stiles, the vast majority of which are of the "squeeze through" variety. Poles are recommended for three steep sections.

You're most welcome to join us of course. If you're coming along and it's your very first time with us it'd be great if you could let us know beforehand so that we can look out for you on the day, thanks.

Registration: 09.45. Walk start: 10.00.   Walk Leader: Roy C (07540 454548)

Car sharing very much recommended as the car park is a popular one. Honesty Box in operation at a suggested £3 per vehicle for the upkeep of this recently refurbished facility. Thank you.

Post walk refreshments at the local pub as per usual.

See you on Sunday morning folks.

Directions primarily for our own members but good for anyone approaching via the A515 Ashbourne to Buxton road at Newhaven.

The start is situated at the western entrance to Youlgreave village as accessed from the A515 Ashbourne to Buxton road which is four miles west of here. The route below is the most straightforward with only two junctions to worry about once you leave the A515. OS map and car park screenshot in the photos above to aid you if you don't have sat-nag🐴

Proceed to Ashbourne via your favourite route, then take the A515 Buxton road northwards for almost 10 miles to Newhaven where turn right at the large triangular junction onto the A5012, direction Cromford and Matlock. 200 yards later turn left off the A5012 onto an unclassified road signed for Friden, Middleton, & Youlgreave and follow this for approximately 3 miles, without deviation, signed for Youlgreave, until you reach a rural T-junction.

Turn right here for Youlgreave and continue for 1 mile to the outskirts of Youlgreave village. Pass the "Youlgrave" sign and ignore the private allotment car park on your left. Carry on for another 100 yards and after the 30mph restriction signs turn left into the public car park, just before the first house on the left. ⚠️Height restriction at the entrance. ⚠️Be prepared to block park as this is a popular car park for fellow walkers.
