Walking in and around Dumfries
Welcome to the Dumfries & District Ramblers Group. We walk mainly in the Dumfries & Galloway region but also venture into the Scottish Borders, the Lake District and elsewhere in Cumbria.
We have almost 100 walks each year - we go out every weekend, on one Thursday each month. And to make the most of the light, we also head out for regular summer evening walks.
They are usually leisurely, but we try and have a good mix, with some short walks and some more strenuous. Our walks vary from simple path walks to mountain walks with ascents that are bit more challenging but have spectacular views.
Joining our walking community
We are a friendly group who provide walks for all abilities. New and non-members are always very welcome to join us. If you have any questions before heading out on a walk with us, please do get in touch. One thing to note is that because our location is essentially in stock farming areas, so unfortunately we are not able to allow dogs to join our walks.
Social Events
As well as walking, we have several social events throughout the year, aiming to have one event in each season: Christmas Lunch, Spring coffee morning, Summer barbeque and an Autumn Quiz night.
