About us
Welcome to the Havering and East London group. Our rambles include leisurely walks of about 5 - 7 miles.
We walk in a variety of areas including Essex and London’s open spaces, countryside, woods and forests, country parks riversides and canal towpaths. Occasionally we take trips further afield by train to explore areas outside of our normal patch.
London areas are especially ideal during the winter months when the countryside could be difficult to walk in. Many walks include the opportunity to relax in a cafe or pub at the finish.
Take a tour around our website to see all walk details; our Gallery of photos; A Potted History giving the background of our group formation; and much more.
Our walks
Our most popular walking day is on a Tuesday, with some Saturday, Sunday and early evening walks. The details can be found on our website, as well as any short-notice changes. We're a friendly welcoming group and enjoy walking and talking with people. We are always pleased to meet new friends and offer a variety of walking experiences.
For those who are new to walking with us, we’ve put together a handy Walking Frequently Asked Questions on our website. If you’ve got any other questions, please do get in touch.
We also enjoy social evening meals (sometimes including a light-hearted quiz) and Christmas lunches. By signing up for our newsletter, you'll receive up-to-date information on the group activities. You might even be tempted to send in an article or photo, perhaps about a walk you enjoyed.
We hope that we can tempt you to come along and give us a try!
