Walking on the Isle of Wight
Welcome to the Isle of Wight Ramblers group. We are a very successful, friendly and welcoming group with around 350 members who cover all ages, abilities and interests.
Our walks range from the short (around three miles) to the quite long (15 miles or even more) and the pace varies according to the route, so you should find something to suit your taste.
As a member you will get access to a programme of many walks on the Island every year, and there is an excellent local newsletter, WalkTalk, that comes out three times a year. We also arrange social events throughout the year which include a Christmas lunch. Other events might be a quiz night or a barbeque.
What to expect
We help local people enjoy walking and protect the places that you love to tramp through. There are so many places on the island for you to explore including:
-
72 miles of beautiful coast
-
Lovely towns and villages including Shanklin, Ryde, Yarmouth, Bembridge and Ventnor
-
Carisbrooke Castle and its surroundings
-
A succession of chalk downs going from one side of the island to the other
Companionship is important, and being a Rambler is a great way to get outside, make new friends and discover how walking boosts your health and happiness. You’re very welcome to try walking with us, or to get involved in looking after paths and green spaces and opening up new places to explore.
