Walking the Lea Valley
We are one of the Essex Area Ramblers groups based on the North East London / Essex borders, specialising in short leisurely walks of roughly four miles, often accessible by public transport.
We walk every weekend on either Saturday or Sunday, guided by a walk leader along safe and accessible routes. We walk over a variety of terrain with a good selection of country and town walks, making our walks accessible to most people with a basic level of fitness. Our walks usually start at 10.30 am, finishing about 1.00 pm, including a coffee stop, where possible.
Join our walking community
Come and join us for a stroll in the Lea Valley Regional Park, London’s biggest open space, or enjoy one of our walks through the ancient woodlands of Epping Forest. Occasionally we venture further afield and enjoy country walks in rural Essex and Hertfordshire followed by a hearty pub lunch.
We have regular trips to Central London for historic walks and sightseeing, with commentary from our knowledgeable leaders, visiting Royal Parks; walking along London's extensive river and canal networks; and visiting other heaths, commons and woods within the London area.
Walking with Lea Valley Friends is an enjoyable way to get outside, meet like-minded people, make new friends and improve your health and happiness.
We also organise an annual holiday and our popular Christmas lunch, as well as other social events.
