Walking in Manchester and beyond
We run a monthly coach excursion on Sunday all throughout the year to popular destinations in Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, such as the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales, the North York Moors, the Snowdonia National Park, the Peak District, the Shropshire Hills and the Forest of Bowland.
On the other Sundays when there is no coach excursion we organise local walks using public transport.
Details of our upcoming coach excursions and how to book can be found by clicking on the links below, or by going to the Manchester Coach Rambles website https://www.manchestercoachrambles.org.uk/ where you can also find details of our full walks programme, including local walks.
Our coach rambles
On each coach excursion, we offer at least three led walks at the destination, all led by experienced volunteer walk leaders. We also ensure that there are facilities at each destination i.e. restaurants, cafes, public toilets and places of local interest.
The led walks on offer are graded as follows:
- B walk - between 11 to 13 miles [link to grading information]
- C walk - between 9 to 11 miles
- D walk - between 6 to 8 miles
On occasion we do offer A walks (up to 15 miles) when there is a walk leader available.
Seats must be booked in advance.
Coach excursions are very competitively priced - depending on the destination, the cost is no more than £15. There is no extra cost to join the led walks, but they’re also not compulsory. Members can do their own private walks at the destination but must ensure that they return to the coach at the appointed time of departure.
The coach leaves Manchester City Centre, Chorlton Street (opposite the National Express Coach Station) at 8.50 am prompt, with various pick-up points en route. The coach leaves the destination at 5.30pm (winter) and 6.00 pm (summer).
Joining our walking community
All members of the Manchester Coach Rambles Group are members of the Ramblers. Non-members can join a coach excursion; however, after your third coach excursion, you would be encouraged to become a member of the Ramblers. To join please visit www.ramblers.org.uk/join
