Walking in North Hertfordshire
Welcome to the North Hertfordshire group. We are a friendly bunch, encouraging not only walking, but related social activities. We walk every Sunday, most Saturdays and occasionally on Wednesdays.
Our walks take us throughout North Hertfordshire, and occasionally into Bedfordshire, Essex, and sometimes into London itself. We aim to develop leadership skills for our members by running regular Navigation and GPS awareness courses.
We also organise walking holidays, at home and abroad, sometimes self-led, sometimes using leaders provided by the holiday organisation.
Dogs can accompany their owners on walks specified as Dog Friendly – these are every Saturday and sometimes midweek. Registered Assistance dogs are of course welcome on all other walks. We also like to encourage car sharing, by specifying central meeting points.
Explore our beautiful countryside
In our walks you will enjoy chalk hills of the Chilterns including an Iron Age hilltop fort, river and canal banks, the historical Icknield Way, homemade STOOP and HOOP paths, as well as many pretty villages with duck ponds and thatched roof cottages.
We time our walks to see the Pasque flower (Hertfordshire’s flower) or bluebells in bloom and there are always experts on hand to identify other wildlife.
If you have any questions, please just get in touch – we look forward to walking with you soon.
