Walking in and around Stamford
A very warm welcome to the Stamford Group.
The Stamford Ramblers including Bourne and The Deepings, helps local people enjoy walking and protect the places we all love to walk. We organise regular walks - a great way to get outside, make new friends, have a good chat, and discover how walking boosts your physical and mental health and happiness and gives you a chance to visit unfamiliar places.
Each year we organise a varied programme of led walks. We have a ramble every other Sunday throughout the year which is usually between 8 to 11 miles and lasts for 4 to 5 hours, mostly within a 25-mile radius of Stamford. We have a morning coffee stop and a picnic lunch.
During the summer, shorter walks are organised on some Wednesdays and we hold other events such as away days, and walking local national trails in stages.
Our friendly walking community
The group is a very friendly mixture of people whose common interest is walking in the countryside. We love to explore new routes, learn about the history of our local area, and where possible share a well-deserved slice of cake, coffee or a pint after we’ve had the chance to stretch our legs.
As well as the led walks, we also have a number of social events during the year, where we enjoy dining together and chatting about our walking adventures.
Everyone is welcome to join us, and you can go on three of our rambles before making a decision to become a member. Choose a walk from our walk programme and go to the location as detailed and simply introduce yourself to the walk leader and that is it, you are on your first walk with us.
