Walking in and around Tendring
Welcome to the Tendring District Ramblers. We cover North East Essex from the River Stour and the Suffolk border in the north to the coast, and to the River Colne in the south, with the coast to the east and its inland boundary with Colchester to the west.
Towns in the district include Harwich, Walton-on-the-Naze, Frinton-on-Sea, Clacton-on-Sea, Brightlingsea and Wivenhoe. Large villages in the district include Tendring, St. Osyth and Great Bentley.
Our walking community
We cater for most walking abilities by offering regular weekly walking on Thursdays and Sundays. Walks of a moderate pace are usually between eight and eleven miles long with the occasional of twelve to fourteen miles.
We also try to organise shorter half-day walks of a leisurely pace on a Thursday of four to six miles, depending on the availability of a leader. Most of our walking is in Tendring and the surrounding areas which include the Dedham Vale, Constable Country and South Suffolk.
Occasional walks also take place to the north and west of Colchester, as well as further into Suffolk. The only dogs permitted on walks are Registered Assistance Dogs which must be in harness at all times. Please check with the walk leader in advance of the walk that the terrain is suitable for a dog.
