Walking in Weston-Super-Mare and beyond
Welcome to the Woodspring Ramblers group. We are based around Weston-Super-Mare, and surrounding villages of North Somerset. Our immediate area encompasses fine coastlines, the majestic Mendip Hills and the Somerset Levels, providing extensive walking variety with excellent views right on our doorstep.
In addition to local walks, we take advantage of our excellent proximity to the Quantocks, Exmoor, Cotswolds and South Wales.
We have a strong contingent of walk leaders offering walks over a variety of lengths (typically from between 4 & 15 miles), levels of difficulty (easy, moderate, & strenuous) and terrains (flat, hilly, coastal and challenging).
There are regular walks on Wednesdays, Thursdays & Sundays, often providing a choice of walks on the same day. In the summer we add shorter evening walks followed by an optional meal in a pub. We also hold various themed walks including our legendary post-Christmas Mince Pie/Mulled Wine walk and very popular Souper (Soup & Rolls) AGM.
Our welcoming walking community
We aren’t just a great walking group - it is a community and a great way to meet new people, whether you have just moved to our area, or recently retired.
Our membership covers the full range from leisurely walkers to those regularly doing longer walks each week. As well as the excellent walks programme we organise several walking holidays each year across the UK and further afield. And of course there is our active social calendar including regular suppers, skittles and quiz nights. We stay connected via our very own Woodspring monthly magazine and our website [link].
If you are keen on outdoor, practical work, our footpath maintenance team that partners with the local council supports the local community by clearing paths and upgrading stiles to gates for easier access.
We are all very supportive of each other, close friendships have been forged, as well as having enjoyable walking ‘buddies’.
