Join the volunteer walk leaders for a walk and talk around the green spaces and trails of Penistone. Starting and finishing at Penistone Leisure Centre, there are various routes to choose from depending on the weather and ability of the group. Dogs on a lead are welcome to all walks.
The first route takes you through Watermeadows Park which is mainly flat and paved. One road requires crossing but there is a pelican crossing to use. The bridge into the park can be slippery when wet, but the route doesn't get muddy. The walk is wheelchair and pram-friendly.
The second route is 3km long. It is mostly on footpaths with a little bit of woodland at the start. There is an elevation gain of 60m with a slow incline partway through and then a gradual slope back down again.
Join the group for refreshments back at the Hub Community Cafe in Penistone Leisure Centre after the walk.
Appropriate footwear and clothing for the weather is advised.
Limited parking is available at Penistone Leisure Centre or you can catch the buses 20, 21, 21a, 23, 25, 25a, or 29, that drops you just before Penistone Leisure Centre.
