Greenwich Get Walking is a healthy walks scheme run by Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT), alongside the Royal Borough of Greenwich and in partnership with Ramblers. Our walks are free, fun and friendly - a perfect way to meet new people and get more active.
Walking with Poles supports and engages muscles for a full body workout and a load of health benefits, including:
- Focussing on good posture, good breathing and using your arms.
- Using more muscles like chest, arms, shoulders and core, as well as legs.
- Poles propel you forward, making you walk faster which boosts energy and raises heart rate.
- Raising your heart rate helps circulation which lowers blood pressure, and improves breathing which benefits lungs.
- Supportive poles protect your joints.
This walk lasts around an hour and explores Charlton Park.
Toilets and refreshments are available in Charlton Park. There are various transport options including buses that stop at Charlton Park Road. The ground may be uneven or muddy, so please wear suitable footwear and clothing for the outdoors. Meet at Charlton House, Charlton Road, SE7 8RE.
