Overview

Whittlesey gentle stroll is a friendly, welcoming and social walk that is at a slower pace, and a lower distance for those who still wish to enjoy a walk but without speed or the miles.

Routes will be buggy, wheelchair and mobility scooter accessible with drop kerbs and on on path routes. The routes will remain in the town of Whittlesey and will not be longer than 3 km in length. Rest stops will also be available on the routes too.

These walks will be on the 2nd & 4th Monday of the month (except on Bank holidays & in bad weather).

Route One:

From the Buttercross the route will first head to the Station Road to the Garden of Rest, around this where there is time for a mindful moment, reflection or a sit down (or all 3!). From here the walk will cross Station Road into the St Mary's Church green, and then to the Jenner Health Centre, heading out the back to follow the Garden Grove footpath to the Bower. A place to stop and rest here, looking up and down the Bower. Then continuing to Church St and going past St Andrews Church, stopping to rest at the bench opposite where walkers can read the heritage board if they wish. From here the walk continues up Church St and through Thorofare Lane to return along Market St, back to the Buttercross, or Whittlesey Library for optional teas/coffees as part of their hub service.
