Please assemble for the walk at the Loggerheads Country Park - Visitor Centre. Toilets and refreshments here (good coffee). Given the walk begins at 11.00 a coffee before the start is a good idea as the next stop will be for lunch. Please see parking information below the walk description.
We cross the river Alyn and follow paths generally above the river through a limestone gorge at one point called Devil’s Gorge. The river rises and then disappears at times through the walk. There are some parts where the walk is along a cliff edge but the path is wide enough, clear and frequently visited. We reach a road and head up a short but steep hill before entering woodland next to a property with noisy dogs but they are well fenced in. We will stop for lunch before a short second section of road then field paths back to the dry river bed and a short climb up to the village of Pantymwyn. Through the village we follow woodland paths over limestone, and need to duck under 2 fallen trees, before re-entering the Loggerheads Country Park. Good views to the hills at this point. A series of steps take us back to the visitor centre. In all I counted two stiles.
Please bring refreshments for a lunch stop.
