Dunster - Weekend Away

After the success of last year's event, I have been asked if would organise this event again. So, here we go.

Whilst the weekend is initially aimed at walkers, all members are welcome to join us as there is lots to do in the area. Lots of fun to be had.

The Yarn Market is an independent, 3-star Hotel in Dunster, which prides itself on friendly service and hearty food.

Situated in the Medieval village of Dunster within Exmoor National Park, The Yarn Market Hotel is the perfect place to get away from normality and have a chance to relax in this beautiful area.

A warm welcome awaits all who want to enjoy the magnificent surroundings of Exmoor and West Somerset, including dogs! Being in this stunning area, the Hotel is able to specialise in walking holidays in Exmoor and many special interests breaks in Dunster.

Things to do:

Dunster Castle – A National Trust property, so please don’t forget your membership cards.

Explore Dunster - Lots of interesting shops and things to visit: Gallox Bridge, Conygar Tower. Dunster has its own beach and is a short train or bus ride away from Minehead. There is a Visitor Centre close to the hotel.

THE WEST SOMERSET RAILWAY - 20 miles of heritage railway through stunning Somerset countryside and coast.

Plus, lots lots more!

Plan for the weekend:

Friday - 1.00PM - Meet for lunch. I will then take us for a climb up Conygar Tower to get great views of Dunster village.

Others can arrive anytime they wish. Dinner will be at 7.00PM

There will be walks on both Saturday and Sunday (Details to follow). There will also be evening entertainment.

The journey from Basingstoke is 126 miles. Takes between 3 and 3.5 hours.

The price for the weekend is £230 per member; £235 per guest for 2 nights bed, breakfast, dinner and packed lunch, and evening entertainment. There is no single room supplement and no reduction for sharing rooms.

A non-refundable deposit of £50 per person is required by Friday 19 April 2024. As always, I will operate the waitlist. Once you have paid, you will be on the list. The balance will be required by 1 August 2024 please.

There is also l some limited availability for those who wish to travel down on Thursday or return on Sunday - £95 per person per night. Please let me know when booking if you would like addition night(s)

Please note all payments are non refundable and non-transferrable.

I need a minimum of 15 people to make this work. As before, I will be inviting people from other groups , especially North Hampshire Downs Ramblers. Of course, If I don’t get enough people by the deadline, I will refund your deposit.
