Keswick is an ever popular destination for us. Experts have speculated about the origins of the name Keswick: one academic has suggested that the name is of Danish or Norse origin, and means "Kell's place at the bend of the river", while others suggest that Keswick is a combination of the Old English word “cēse”, meaning “cheese”, and the Scandinavian initial "k" and "wīc" which means “dwelling”, which would roughly translate to “cheese town”!
The walking is fantastic and in the past we have walked on to Blencathra via Halls Fell (pic1 ), climbed the Bowder Stone in Borrowdale (pic 2) before going up to the splendidly named Joppelty How (pic 3). There are too many beauty spots to mention! Book now and don't miss out.
