The walk starts below the foot of the Eildons and descends to Newstead Village before making its way up towards the site of the Trimontium Roman Fort. Carrying on to the view of Leaderfoot viaduct, we will then turn onto a pleasant track that leads past Broomhill farm, taking care to cross the busy road, then back up to the start point at Rhymer’s Stone.
A relatively flat walk with only gradual ascents. It will be muddy in places, boots and walking poles recommended. Bring a hot drink and snack.

Circular walk, grade C, leisurely. Hiking boots and poles are recommended.
