Note - Afternoon walk
An afternoon walk around Horsey Island; a privately owned island and a Nature Reserve. We have permission to cross the causeway.
There are 2 hours of each side of the low tide to cross the channel. I suggest you wear wellies/or some waterproof shoes and carry your walking boots in a bag with you. It will take approx. 30 minutes to cross.
How to get there: Drive through Kirby Le Soken, take the B1034 towards Walton on Walton Road; watch out for a sharp bend on the left ,follow Island Lane, a narrow unmade bumpy road, pass Silverton Aggregate Builder CO13 ODA,( there is no post code for the island) to the end of the Lane, stay left and park on the left hand side.
We meet at the pill box at the start of the cause way. If the weather is fine, we can walk around the Island on the Saltings and return via the Farm.
Bring plenty to drink and snacks. We will walk back across to the mainland around 4 pm. You will be at your car around 4.30pm
If possible, please contact me beforehand, there is a limit of people who are allowed to visit the island as it is a nature reserve. Bring your binoculars.
