A 5 mile walk along the banks of the River Dee and return via fields, lanes and the lovely hydrangea walk at Erbistock.
The path runs quite close to the water’s edge and is a mixture of muddy paths with exposed roots and rocks to negotiate, there are boardwalks on some sections.
When we leave the river it is undulating fields, tracks, woods and lanes back to Erbistock. It is on the leisurely end of moderate with nothing too steep, the main obstacle being a gate we may have to climb as the kissing gate is ankle deep in wet mud. On the recce we did have one field of very wet long grass so gaiters may be advisable for that section.
The final section takes us through a hydrangea walk which is in full flower with a magnificent range of colours.
We end at St Hilary’s Church at Erbistock and The Boat Inn where we should be able to get a well deserved drink.
We will have a stop on the river bank for coffee and lunch in the woods, bring refreshments for both.
