We follow the lovely Hangers Way, through rolling countryside, woods and fields. Lunch will be at the Selborne Arms and there is also a good cafe with outdoor space. If you want a pub lunch, please email to book by Tuesday 2 July. For those with picnics, there are benches in and around the churchyard and a shelter if it rains. The afternoon walk is slightly shorter and takes us back to Alton. Return trains are at 15 and 44 Minutes past the hour.
Weekend buses no longer run to Selborne, so there are no drop-out options, unless you book a taxi. We cross a dual carriageway on the outward and return walks, where everyone needs to take great care. Nettles are possible, so shorts are inadvisable. Walking boots are essential.
Catch the 08.54 train from Waterloo which arrives at Alton at 10.09. Buy a day return to Alton.
It is also possible to catch the 09.00 train to Woking and then change for the 09.30 to Alton. It usually leaves Woking from platform 5, but check.
There is a limit of 20 places on this walk, so please email to book your place. There is no need to do this if you have booked on the current NELR website.
