A leisurely 6 mile walk. Meeting at the entrance to Mill road car park in Arundel we walk along the bank of the river Arun until we cross the railway line in Warningcamp. Great views of the castle. Heading along the Monarchs Way we climb Warningcamp hill (not very steep) and return to our railway crossing point. There is a glorious 5 minute stretch of snowdrops at the end of this section and when I did my walk recce on the 4th Feb they were waking up and starting to show, so ... fingers crossed we'll see a good display. We then retrace our steps back along the river bank.
There will be mud in places. I'd recommend a walking pole. There are a number of stiles. There are loos at the start. Bring a snack/ picnic for when we will have our one stop at about 11.30. There are plenty of places to have coffee and cake in Arundel and the plan is to decide where, for those of us who wish to do so, as we near the end of the walk.
Parking - Mill road car park is £3.50 up to 4 hours, £5 thereafter. N.B. early arrivals might be able to park for free along Mill road if they can find a space.
Coming by train? - Arundel railway station is a 10 minute walk from the start of the walk. Head off towards the town by taking the route indicated by the entrance to Castle Cabs in the station forecourt. As you enter the town, cross over the bridge and Mill road car park is on your right, opposite the entrance to the castle.
